Scripture Cards – 5th in Series

This one was taken at Surf Beach, in Lompoc, California….it’s kind of a rough beach as far as waves and such for swimming…I’m not a surfer, but I think it’s a good surfing beach (hence the name Surf Beach) Also good for walking along the sand (bring a sweater!) and for taking photos….

 

I’m almost out of my series……so I may have to take more, or come up with another series to start…hmmmmmm I’ll think on that.

Photo Friday – Colors of Autumn

 

 

 

 I have lots of photos to put in this week’s theme……Colorado has such wonderful colors of autumn.  (Unlike California, where I was originally from!) 

 

 

These photos were taken on a trip I took about a year ago to Pagosa Springs, Colorado.  The trip was over Highway 160 from Walsenberg, Colorado, West to Pagosa Springs….incredible drive.   I was told that the Autumn colors would all be gone (the trip was in November, I believe) but fortunately for me and my camera, the colors were still there… the aspens are just amazing….in brilliant yellows, oranges and rusts!  It was an amazing weekend and being able to capture parts of it on camera are a plus.  I have been told not to worry so much about always capturing everything on “film”, but to me, it’s my memory (in case my real brain burns out!)…..something about the printed memories triggers an area in me……I am learning to not be sooooo absorbed in the camera, and focus more on just enjoying the moment, though!  (Hey it’s who I am…sorry!)

The Barr Trail

Last weekend,  on September 13, 2008,  I went on an adventure hiking up part of Pike’s Peak.  It’s called the Barr Trail.  It starts at the base of the mountain near the Cog Railway, and as you can see from the first photo, there is also a “hike” if you can call it that, called “The Incline” .  You can either start up the Incline, and cut across to the Barr Trail, or do the whole incline or start the Barr Trail at the Cog Railway parking lot.   

The Barr Trail itself goes all the way to the top of Pike’s Peak, if you care to go the whole way…..there’s even a campground at about the half way mark, that can only be reached I believe by hiking to it.   I’ll have to add that to my “Things to do Before I Die List”! 

The weather couldn’t have been better…..you never know in September what you’re gonna get, so if it’s nice, you gotta get out and do something….was a wonderful morning.

Photo Friday – Food

 

PHOTO FRIDAY:  “FOOD”Okay, I’m late again…….but here we go….

This photo is from my collection of cards I took on a trip back to California to visit my Mom a couple years ago….I ended up with about 5-8 shots that made it into my card collection that weekend! Success!! This is a grape vine that was growing in my Uncle’s back yard……don’t know what kind of grapes they are for sure, concord?? or possibly a wine variety?? I’ll have to ask him.

This photo was shot off Highway 1 North of Pismo Beach, California.    It was one of those shots that wasn’t planned, we were just driving up the coast, and I had to stop and photograph the sunset.  It’s cold but at the same time very warm and inviting to me.    I miss the ocean sometimes…..not enough to move back, but sure would like to visit occasionally!

Okay so I’m late…..that’s not too unusual, but I did want to contribute to this week’s theme….one of my favorite times of day is first thing in the morning, and especially on Saturday or Sunday when there’s no work or plans and I can sit in the living room and look out my window at the sunrise, garden, etc….and I have recently added a picket fence which makes it that much more charming to me…..It’s not all done, (is it ever)…but I can see where it’s going, and it thrills me to be able to do this house thing….owning and all, as long as it doesn’t start to own me…so here is my contribution…..a photo of my recently built fence from out front and also from inside my living room to the view I see from there.

My Birthday Adventure

 

So, 09/09 was my birthday and my cousin Linda took me out to celebrate. We decided to drive up to the top of Pike’s Peak….it has been on my list to do…but you know how that goes….too many things to do…so little time….anyways, instead of re-writing everything, I will post a few photos from the adventure, and direct you to her blog to see more…thanks Linda, I had an awesome day…..(wish my evening had been as fun!).

This photo is from a camping trip in Colorado Springs at a little campground called Lost Burrow near Cripple Creek……we were out for a walk, and I knew that I needed this “cloud” photo for something….it looks so heavely to me!  I think i’ve said this before, but I LOVE clouds!  They are so amazing.  And I am so loving the mountains too, just wish I could get up to visit them more!

Well, if you read my cousin’s blog last week, you’ll see a stained glass window photo which she inadvertantly posted the wrong week….and yes, that was about the only one of my photos that we took of stained glass windows on our venture that came out as well….we couldn’t get into any of the churches (except one of them was having a funeral, and the thought did cross my mind to just wander in, but I figured I would get caught when I started taking photos…who takes photos at a funeral??)….anyhow,
